The Franciscan Gardens | San Juan Capistrano, CA

Thirteen years after their story began in high school hallways, Catherine and Frank said “I do” in a celebration that perfectly reflected their journey — timeless, intentional, and effortlessly romantic.
Set in the heart of San Juan Capistrano, their ceremony and reception unfolded at Franciscan Gardens — a hidden oasis wrapped in climbing greenery and sun-drenched charm. The design palette was soft and elegant, pairing pastel pinks, fresh whites, and sage greens with subtle amber accents in the glassware and table settings. Tables mixed round and family-style seating, grounded by natural stone number markers — every detail curated with purpose, and nothing overdone.
Catherine was the picture of modern elegance in a strapless Bella Lily gown, her look elevated by a cathedral length veil and pearl-encrusted gloves that added just the right touch of vintage sophistication. Her bridesmaids wore mismatched silhouettes in champagne pink, while Frank and his groomsmen opted for warm tan suits — a color story that felt soft, cohesive, and in complete harmony with the garden setting.
One of the most memorable moments came during the vows. Without planning it, both Catherine and Frank ended with a pinky promise — a quiet tradition from their earliest days. It was the sweetest surprise in the best of ways, blending laughter and tears, and reminding everyone in attendance why these two just work.
After the ceremony, the couple slipped away for portraits at the historic Old Mission San Juan Capistrano — just a short walk from the venue. Among weathered stone walls, pristine gardens, lush arches, and European-inspired architecture, the space brought a cinematic, editorial feel to their gallery. It's the kind of destination that makes Southern California weddings feel like you're somewhere far away.
Catherine and Frank wanted their wedding captured with a balance of documentary honesty and editorial style — a visual narrative that felt beautiful but real. What came to life was exactly that: a celebration of enduring love, meaningful detail, and quiet moments that spoke volumes.
As a travel wedding photographer, I strive to create galleries that feel both artful and real — a seamless blend of editorial beauty and documentary honesty. Whether your love story takes you to a tucked-away garden in California or an intimate villa in Tuscany, I’m here to tell it in a way that feels uniquely and authentically you.
